How to Save a Datalog

Record your vehicle's live data and send it to me for analysis. Required for drivability, fuel economy, and power tuning sessions.

Go to the Main Menu on your FiTech handheld.
Navigate to Dashboard.
In the bottom right corner you will see a button that says "LogON" — press it to start recording.
Run the vehicle as instructed. This could be idle and cruise for drivability or fuel economy, wide open throttle for power tuning, or cranking for a no-start diagnosis.
When finished, press the same button again — it now says "LogOFF".
Turn the vehicle off and unplug the handheld. Plug it into a laptop or PC.
On the handheld's main menu, scroll to "Handheld Software Mode Selection" and press OK.
Select "Open USB Mass Storage". A window should pop up on your computer. If it doesn't, find it in My Computer — usually the E: drive.
You'll see two folders. Open the one labeled with your system part number (not "share").
Open the "log_file" folder, then open the "dashboard" folder. Your file will be called dashboard1.csv.
Save the file with a descriptive name — for example: camaropass1wot. Be as specific as possible.
Email the saved file to [email protected].

⚠️ Important: If you have multiple files in the log_file folder, the files save in ascending order, so the highest number will be the most recent. Be absolutely sure you are sending the file you just created. If you are unsure, delete all files in the folder and start the datalog again from scratch.

How to Save a Cal File (Your Tune)

The .cal file contains all of your ECU's current settings. I need this before I can make any changes and send an updated tune back to you.

With the key ON, engine OFF, go to the Main Menu on your handheld and scroll to "Read Cal from ECU". Press OK.
Select Backup 1 and press OK. This saves a copy to the handheld's internal SD card.
Unplug the handheld from the vehicle and plug it into a PC or laptop.
When the handheld turns on, scroll to "Handheld Software Mode Selection" and press OK.
Select "Open USB Mass Storage". A window should open on your computer. If not, find it in My Computer — usually the E: drive.
You will see two folders. Open the one with your part number (not "share").
Open the "cal_file" folder. Your Backup 1 file should be saved inside.
Email this file to [email protected].

Note: Once I have your cal file, I'll modify the tune and send it back to you. You'll load it using the "Write Cal to ECU" option on the handheld.
